Telefunken: TW 504 S (Delmonico)
Where did I find it: retrorenovation.com
Price: Goodwill $49.50
Seller: Not for sale
Manufacturer: Telefunken
Model: TW 504 S (Delmonico)
Year Made: 1962
Description: I stopped by the Goodwill store here in Manteca this afternoon in hopes of finding a vintage lampshade. But instead I stumbled upon this 1962 Delmonico Stereo Console unit in perfect condition! It was $49.50 and I had to buy it. We just brought it in and plugged it in, the stereo works, sounds good, the turntable works. The photos do not show true color, the speakers are more of a buttery yellow, the inside wood is maple and the whole cabinet is perfect. The paperwork was all with it along with a warranty card that was filled out by the purchaser on 10-30-62 in Vallejo (not sure you can read it in the photo). Anyway, it’s very groovy and a much better addition to our home than a vintage lampshade!

Grundig
Where did I find it: ebay
Price: Starting bid $125
Seller: http://myworld.ebay.com/kurystk1/
Manufacturer: Grundig
Year Made circa 1950
Size: 14" Wide x 31" Tall x 54" Deep
Description: This is an old console and tube FM radio made by Grundig. When I bought it there was the sign that it was from 1952. I personally don't find any markings that identify the year, but you can see it's one of those mid-century high end pieces that middle class families wanted.
The FM radio still works. I plugged it in and played around with it. The controls are so smooth and the volume and tuning knobs just glide. One cool thing on this is a small maybe inch long aqua colored light lozenge that goes apart or gets closer as you zero in on a station. Pretty. Apparently at the time there was also some kind of radio signal called BC. Does anyone know what that is? Anyway, it does not pick up anything when you switch to that. Nor does it pick up any Short Wave broadcasts when you switch it to SW--I assume that's what it means. I guess Short Wave is a radio dinosaur now.
The turntable does not work, or at least I couldn't figure it out. And in the section on the far right, I don't know if there was ever anything there or not. Right now it's empty as you see in the picture. But there also is a piece that appears to fit over the hole and has screw holes, so maybe it's just for storage. I don't know.
The finish on this console is pretty. Of course there might be a nick here and there, but by and large this is a pretty 50's furniture item that a family would have cherished at the time.

Grundig: Majestic 9065
Where did I find it: http://radio.macinmind.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=199
Price: $47.50
Manufacturer: Grundig
Model: Majestic 9065
Year Made: 1957
Description: AM, FM 88-108, SW1, SW2 with 6 speakers for the ultimate in high fidelity monaural sound. Manufacture date stamped on it is 4/23/1957. It sat across the street at a church sale until it got marked to half-price on the last day of the sale. Stuck in with furniture there, I can see how this one got passed up. I guessed a radio was in there. A wire was ripped out of the cone of one speaker so I've done a repair to that, remade the drawer spring cord and cleaned it inside and out. This thing has dimension like stereo because of the way the speakers are pointed. A woofer pointed at the floor, mid-low in the middle top, 2 super tweeters in the front sides and two high-mid speakers in the sides.
