  1. I recently acquired a Telefunken Hymnus as well that looks exactly like this one at first glance... However, mine says it is a Hymnus 5438 MX HI-FI FM Stereo... Just as your's, mine does not seem to want to turn on as well. Hmmfff!

  2. I own a Hymnus 5438 MX which has been in perfect working condition since purchased in 1959 by my friend's father. The cabinetry is spectacular, due to the 'bookend grain' pattern(i.e. the grain on the wood is matched). Unbelievable sound,as good as many modern stereo systems. Not only a beautiful piece of furniture but an impressive sound system. It is worth keeping & getting any of these models repaired.

  3. I just found one at a used furniture store but the turntable and radio don't work. When I turn the radio on the light comes on but no sound and the turntable doesn't spin. Everything seems to be a good cosmetic shape though and when I first turned it on there was a instant burning smell coming from the backside, maybe a fuse popped or something. I wonder how much it would cost to get it fixed? Anyone knows?

  5. Purchased one of these new back in 1963 while stationed in Germany. Still have it and it's in mint condition. Has not been used much. The sound is incredible. I found another one on E-bay to use as parts and paid only $1.00!!!! Nobody else bid on it. Then I discovered it works well too after replacing the hard to find fuse. (It's well hidden.)

    1. Does anyone know where to find the "hidden" fuse in this unit?
